Embodying traditional war dances and dances of resistance, ›Wars & Dances‹ questions how a contemporary choreographic practice can resist the homogenization of choreographic imagination. Without any promise of authenticity and through empathy rather than historical practices of exclusion, Eszter Salamon engages in a utopian project investing in rituals that are sensible to the ‘common’ and the sharable. Framed by the unique architecture of the SANAA building close to PACT, ›Wars & Dances‹ allows visitors and performers to share in a psycho-physical situation that investigates relations between the here and there, memory and history, visibility and invisibility.
